Block 486 is a rare collection of ancient inland cedar trees.  They're estimated to be between 1000 and 2000 years old, and is the only known location of ancient cedars like this on the planet.

A logging company plans to log this block to make fence posts and roof shingles.

Block 486 is located on the desolate road between Prince George and McBride British Columbia.  My parents and i took the trek to this remote location, in the middle of winter, to see these ancient giants.

Hey, it looks like it will be saved. Our hiking club (The Caledonia Ramblers) had built that trail in there...and have been working with the government and the logging company, and it looks like it will be given legal status as a Recreational Site. The logging company has let their license to cut expire and is now interested in 'co-sponsoring' that patch of rainforest (with no intent to cut it). All that has to be done is the paperwork, but it sounds like it will go through. Yeh!!! There are also other patches of forest in the area that will be given official protection status.
